Here’s Everything You Need To Know About A FASTag
The Government of India has taken several steps to ensure better road safety and management. To improve road safety, recently, the government has increased the challan rates for some common violations done on public roads while driving a vehicle. However, the challans can vary from one state to another, hence you can check the penalties online. For instance, if you live in Pune, you check Pune traffic e challan details online to know more about the traffic fines. Another great initiative taken by the Government to encourage better road management on the Highways is the introduction of FASTags.
FASTag is a very useful and reloadable tag by making use of which you can pay the toll charges at the toll plazas. This easy-to-use tag can be used for a cashless transaction as the charges are deducted automatically. The Ministry of Road Transportation and Highways (MoRTH) has mandated the FASTag for all the vehicles. If you have not yet got a FASTag for your vehicle, you must purchase it as soon as possible. Out of the 23 banks currently providing FASTag, IDFC Bank is one of the major providers, hence you can apply for IDFC FASTag online from the comfort of your home.
All you have to do is open the official website of the bank, and submit your details including name, email, address, city, mobile number and vehicle registration number. Once you have entered the personal details, you will be redirected to a new page for the submission of payment. You should go through the complete payment details and then submit the application for the FASTag. Also, you would be required to submit a few documents as a part of the application process. It is mandatory to submit the KYC document and you can submit any of the documents like PAN Card, Passport or driving licence. Besides the KYC document and the application form, you need to submit a copy of your vehicle registration certificate and you must also have your passport size photo.
In case you are not able to successfully apply for the FASTag from the portal, you can contact the customer service support of the respective bank for further assistance. You can also apply for a FASTag through offline mode. You can buy a FASTag from the POS located at the bank branches or the toll plazas. To encourage people to opt for FASTag instead of conventional cash-based transactions at the toll plazas, there is a 2.5% cashback on every transaction made through the FASTags. The cashback is usually credited in the account within seven working days. Another key point regarding the FASTag is that you should maintain a minimum balance in your FASTag account or else the tag won’t be activated. You can recharge your FASTag easily online as there are multiple payment options available including credit card, debit card, UPI, Internet Banking, etc. Thus, FASTag is a great way to save both time and hard-earned money.
